After studies at Bennington College with Alan Cheuse, Nicholas Delbanco, and Bernard Malamud, and at Brown University with John Hawkes, thesis advisor, I served as general manager and an occasional actor with New York’s Ridiculous Theatrical Company; as senior editor of Theatre Communications Group and American Theatre magazine; as artistic associate at Arena Stage in Washington, DC; and, in Asheville, NC, as the director of LaZoom Comedy Tours; associate director/director of communication and education for the Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute; and as the founding artistic director of The Magnetic Theatre and the producing artistic director and publisher of The Sublime Theater & Press.
Recipient of grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, I have also been a reader for the O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference; an adjudicator for the Dayton Playhouse FutureFest and the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival; a guest judge on the Village Voice Obie committee; and a board member of the Greenwich Village Chamber of Commerce.
